It is definitely a process...

that includes a lot of hard work. It is a grind. You described my son Ben's career (4:19 HS, sub-4 his junior year at VT in 2021). Lots of examples that are similar. A huge key is avoiding injury and illness (knock on wood!). Covid can throw an athlete for a loop also.
